Doctor - Patient communication in 3D

What are patients looking for when seeing their doctor? Being able to look their doctor in the eye, feeling ‘heard and seen’, being educated about their ailment, medical condition, surgical procedure, seeing their scans.

This is exactly what the Holoxica Holo-Medicine suite is aiming for: humanising and democratising remote digital healthcare communications in 3D. Empowering the patient. Educating the patient. Making life easier for the doctor and the patient with a holistic integrated approach.

The world has gone remote. Where traditional telemedicine (phone or 2D videoconferencing) may seem ‘de-humanising’ healthcare, 3D videoconferencing is natural, more human, intuitive and realistic. That’s why we came up with 3D Telemedicine: videoconferencing in 3D, the most realistic way for patients to be ‘in the room’ with their doctor without glasses or headsets.

Seeing anatomy in 3D

Patients need to understand their conditions or surgical procedures. One of the most powerful ways to do this is to see animations of their conditions or surgical procedures. Better medical imagery helps them to understand their condition better and can make them feel less anxious.

Anatomical structures are often difficult to conceptualise, such as e.g. the spatial relationship between various blood vessels, the chambers of the heart or the lungs. Holoxica’s medical visualisation tools provide additional 3D data to understand these relationships, such as depth cues.

Holoxica’s Holoviewer is a 3D medical visualisation app that provides manipulation and animation of anatomical imagery so patients can easily see and understand their conditions or surgical procedures.

Seeing patients’ scans in 3D

With Holoxica’s Volumeviewer/HoloSlicer, patients can see their scans in 3D, remotely. No need to take time off and travel to a hospital to see a traditional black and white scan on a 2D screen any more. Holoxica’s Volumeviewer/HoloSlicer app converts data from MRI’s, X-rays, ultrasound and CT scans into 3D colourful imagery that the doctor can show to the patient, zoom in and out, and explain the issue. The 3D imagery of the scans can also be used by surgeons for surgical planning and peer reviews between specialists, anywhere in the world.

Holoxica’s Holo-Medicine Suite

Holoxica’s Holo-Medicine suite will bring together its 3D Telepresence, Holoviewer and Volumeviewer/HoloSlicer technology in one app, so any patient anywhere can have the best possible access to remote quality healthcare and feel properly ‘seen and heard’, the Holo-way. We are looking for investments to further develop this project.
