Welcome to Holoxica’s new Holo Innovation Center, the home where the future of holographic immersive technology is being shaped today and where the present is being reinvented in 3D with 3D Telepresence, literally! Anyone interested in disruptive innovative 3D tech without glasses/headsets and collaborative experiences in multiple dimensions is more than welcome!
Knock Knock, Who’s there?
Well ... everyone, we hope. We have just opened the doors to our Holo Innovation Center and want to see everyone out there who feels they have been locked up for nearly two years and are keen to catch up on the latest tech. Whether you are a full on techaholic, a sci-fi fan mesmerised by holograms or a mere novice in the field, our Center has something for everyone and guarantees you will be leaving having benefitted in some way.
As 3D holographic visualisation specialists, we have a special free offer for Scotland based NHS staff, students, professors and researchers, who will have the exciting prospect of being able to upload their very own data to our servers and view and engage with the final product of their 3D data on our 3D displays, from the mini Portrait all the way to the large 32” 8K Looking Glass Display. Companies can also rent out our facilities and resources to view their data with the latest 3D technology.
Our first 2 events took place in the context of COP26 with a 3D Telepresence demo between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and another one, a world premiere, of a 5G to 5G 3D video chat demo between Dumfries and Glasgow. You can read more about it here and here.
Beyond our four walls…
As we know far too well, this pandemic has had a massive effect on the way in which we live and operate in general. While we may have become fluent in navigating Netflix, we have been limited to the four contained walls of our homes. But what lies beyond these walls is all of the new technology that has been designed throughout the duration of the pandemic. Our Holo Innovation Center is the perfect place to get a look at some of the new technology that you have missed out on. Here are a few examples of what is on display at our Holo Innovation Center:
HoloViewer
This application allows the user to view and manipulate 3D model data, primarily for scientific, engineering and anatomical purposes. HoloViewer provides incredible flexibility from a user perspective to generate compelling life-like 3D imagery for 3D holographic displays. You can do fly-bys, simply rotate an object, change lighting or take pictures of various conditions. In addition, HoloViewer not only provides output for 3D holographic displays, but also printed holograms and excellent renderings on 2D screens of 3D objects. Supporting light field 3D displays, the viewer can render in real 3D, approaching the quality and depth of a digital hologram. Editing tools are also available which allow the user to set up their own custom scenes including lighting and model annotating.
HoloSlicer
HoloSlicer is our volumetric 2D and 3D visualisation app that can be used to view medical data in both 2D and 3D, on a 2D screen and on a 3D display, with support for real time camera controls and manipulation of the volume rendering parameters. This app is particularly useful in the medical field where patients can see the results of medical scans such as MRI or CT in 3D as opposed to 2D. Not only does this help the patient to better understand their results but this helps to put them at much greater ease and peace of mind. It also helps surgeons with pre-surgery workflows.
HoloPresence
The human eye naturally sees the world in 3D. It is therefore only natural that we also communicate remotely in 3D. Holoxica responded to the global pandemic by creating immersive video conferencing in 3D, without the need to wear glasses or headsets. This technology humanises digital communications through 3D holographic technology so that interactions can occur on a much more personal level. The best part of HoloPresence, you can give a holographic high five!
HoloMaps
HoloMaps is a holographic software application designed last year by Holoxica which showcases geographical data in 3D! This process involves geo mapping data from various providers such as Google and displaying that data on holographic software. What this means is you can pick any country in the whole world and HoloMaps will be able to show you the country in holographic 3D so that you can view the entire terrain in impressive detail. We can also overlay any specific data. Choosing a holiday destination has never been easier. Kidding aside, this is a perfect tool for terrain visualisation, geospatial and surface intelligence in 3D.
