Light Field Displays
Holoxica is an authorised value-added reseller of Light Field Display (LFD) technologies by the Looking Glass Factory and Holografika. We offer solutions around the Looking Glass displays and the Holovizio system.
LFDs are based on a dense "field" of light rays produced by either a high resolution LCD panel (with optics) or a projector array system. The result is a naturally viewable full-colour real-time video 3D display that does not require any glasses. The display can have several people located within its field of view, with each person seeing a slightly different viewpoint, depending on their position, just like a real 3D object.
Light Field Displays (LFDs) work by chopping up the image volume radially, a bit like a cake. This is unlike volumetric displays, which slices the volume like a loaf of bread. LFDs typically have an angular separation of around one degree between slices. At normal viewing distances (>1.0 metre/3 ft), so that each pupil in your eye gets at least two of these slices. The result is that adjacent views blend seamless together as the viewer moves around the scene within the field of view (FoV) of the display. The FoV is typically ~50 degrees or more.
